Karolina & Maciek – The Tannhäuser Gate
I’ve seen things you people wouldn”t believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain…
This session is slightly different from what you can usually see on my blog. It is possible that you already know Karolina and Maciek – I collaborated with them during their wedding session. However, this time we met for a slightly different purpose…
Some of you probably already guess what the theme of this photo session is – the inspiration was one of the favorite movies of Karolina and Maciek, the cult science fiction from 1982 with the perfect Harrison Ford. You guessed it right, Blade Runner it is! I must admit that I am also a huge fan, this movie is a real masterpiece, one of the best projects directed by Ridley Scott. Each frame of the film is perfect, which explains why this film is such a great inspiration for me as a photographer.
The photo session took place in an old, abandoned factory. We used artificial light, filters and smoke to give even more of this amazing atmosphere from the movie. This photo session was a huge challenge for me, especially because of the light – in the film you can never see the sun or natural light. Shooting in such conditions was a real test of strength. Karolina and Maciek cooperated bravely, often suggesting their own interesting ideas. Symbolic elements appear in the pictures, which were shown in the film, such as matches and the characteristic eye zoom.
This photo session was an amazing experience for me – a huge challenge, but also a joy that I take part in such a creative project.
Ever wondered what would happen if Blade Runner’s three biggest fans found themselves in an abandoned basement? The effects of this meeting can be seen below!
